Where did the whopping huge meteor come down? I assume if there are core samples, we know where it was, and maybe there are remnants of it?

Chicxulub Puerto, Yucatan, Mexico, fucking exactly

also the people of Chicxulub Puerto are fully aware of this, and even created a memorial for all of dinosaurkind on their own dime!

and personally, I think this single heartfelt block of concrete is more fitting than any number of sleek expensive monoliths in the world’s best museums.

at an unremarkable time in this unremarkable place, the world ended, once. it’s good to remember that.

Oh…man…

apparently male spiders in many species have evolved a behavior to catapult away from females after sex to avoid getting eaten but then many of these spiders will go back to the same females as before and attempt to have sex with them again 😭

spiders are incredible it’s baffling to me that people hate them. like are you hearing this.

the heat of the fire draws air straight up from the center over the fire. This draws the air in from the sides in a circle around the fire creating an air current, which means air is being blown toward the fire from all sides. When you sit on one side of the fire, it blocks some of the air moving toward the fire from that side. Now there is more air being blown toward the fire from the side opposite you. This pushes the smoke your direction. When you move to the other side, it just makes the same thing happen over there. The smoke actually literally does follow you around no matter where you sit. Because physics.

This isn’t bad at all. I was thrilled to see the eggs weren’t cut and the babies were allowed to come out at their own pace. The incubator tub looks great. I just have a few notes.

The first is that it’s not necessary to separate egg clusters. You can do it as long as they were laid recently, but it’s not necessary to pull them apart unless they won’t fit in your incubator otherwise. The second is it’s not necessary to wash baby snakes after they hatch; as mentioned, any gunk will come off with their first shed. Finally, I would go ahead and move the babies into their own enclosures after hatching, instead of leaving them together.

Otherwise, cute babies!
